Babalao Bungalows

Babalao is locating in the north side of heavenly beautiful Zanzibar Island. Besides from their facilities, there are a lot of attractions, restaurants and shopping locations in walking distance. We've spent 8 fully nights and 9 days there and it was one of a kind experience in our lives. Thanks to Yahya, hotel's manager and our tour guide Salim, we've reached out to every attractions that we've wanted, like snorkeling with dolphins, skydiving, trying fresh fruits on spice farms and enjoying beautiful sunsets. In Babalao, you have a chance to start a day with delicious exotic fruits and local coffee, then ate different meals everyday. Everyone is kind and helpful, like you're not a customer but a really dearly guest in their home. I think it's really important when you've visited first time somewhere, really far away from home. If I've talk about Babalao, BBQ nights should definitely be in the discussion. Well, back in Turkey, we've used to BBQ's but BBQ with seafood is definitely something else, especially if they are local fishes and almost directly coming from the sea. Also, you may want to try their special cocktail and would definitely lose yourself to dance with other guests with live local music. When we were there, Afrobukuu (@afrobukuu), local group was playing and we've had a great taste of music, wildly fun dance and lots of laugh. Additionally, I'd like to pay your attention to a beautiful paintings around the wall of Babalao Bungalows. You may want to contact with the artist, Bob (IG: @bob_elichi95) if you want to have your own paintings from his hands and have enjoyed his sincere chat. We'd like to thank Ahmet, Maxim, Elena (we didn't met but heard a lot about her), Barut and Yeva (sweet pets of the hotel) for a exceptional hosting. Very nice hotel with outstanding attention to details. The owner and rest of the staff are always there for any help needed. When I got sick, Ahmed, the owner, helped us a lot to find out what to do, thanks a lot! Important features to mention: Hotel is 5 minutes' walk from the beach. There are multiple highly rated restaurants around the corner. You can book various attractions at the hotel - they give you good price and smooth experience. Enjoy!

Amazing hospitality! The useful information for enjoying our stay was provided when we checked-in. Especially, the recommended seafood restaurants were so nice. In addition to that, you can request them to book a sunset cruise or a taxi to the airport and Stonetown at good price. You may have a concern about water? No problem! They give the customers drinkable water at free. The accommodation has a hot shower with a good water pressure. I have been to several resort hotels, but Babalao is the best!

Everything was great from the minute i've stepped in. Max and Elena are really amazing people. As a solo traveler I felt very safe and at home. I arrived early before check in time and they provided me breakfast and allowed me to sleep in an empty room. The owners was always around and checked if im okay ready to help you with anything. You feel more like a family than a guest. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, I had a different type of breakfast everyday. The room was comfortable and clean. Fast wifi. The location is perfect just 2 minutes to the beach. I noticed the place is fully booked all the time, now i understood why 😊.

The owners and all members of staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful during our stay. Max provided us with a very helpful WhatsApp message which included essential information on re the town including good restaurants, bars and activities. There was also information on local doctor in our room which was reassuring. Breakfast was excellent and changed every day. There was a bar open serving cold drinks all day and until late. We had lunch and ordered a chapati seafood wrap which was very very tasty and well cooked! The rooms were very cool with AC and fan, very clean and lovely gardens and flowers throughout. Pool was very clean and nicely decorated communal areas for sunbathing , lounging. Overall a really excellent stay and would definitely stay again if visiting zanzibar. Food, location , Helpful owners all round very well run place with a super relaxed welcoming vibe. Thanks guys!!
